Fitness that Fits every breed!

Canine Conditioning or Canine Fitness fills the gap between traditional dog sports, training activities and canine physiotherapy.

Just like Human fitness training, Canine Fitness exercises are designed to target specific muscle groups. Performing regular repetitions of tailored exercises stimulates these muscles, corrects and rebalances movement patterns. In turn this strengthens these muscles, promotes mobility, stability, flexibility, balance, speed, and body awareness.

Perfect for athletes in the off-season and wanting to keep their dogs in peak condition before the next competition season comes around.

Or senior dogs in need of muscle building and strengthening

Should I be doing this with my dog?

Canine fitness training is not restricted to dogs that regularly do sporting activities but is also valuable for all healthy dogs, including elderly dogs. Common daily activities, such as walks, running, or playing with toys only stimulate and maintain the larger muscle groups but does not necessarily condition the deeper stabilising muscles.

By promoting good posture, increasing the dogs core fitness, strength and flexibility, we actively reduce the risk of muscular injuries.

What do we need?

So, for the classes you will need a well fitted harness (NOT JULIUS K9). Some of the equipment your dog may require extra help/support over so a harness with a handle would be recommended.

Yummy treats! Ham, Cheese, Chicken something your dog will want to work for. Please don't bring their normal biscuits that they eat for dinner.

If your dog is Clicker Trained this can be very helpful for more specific movements.

Dogs will be progressed based on how your Coach feels your dog is doing. You wont necessarily be on inflatable equipment immediately as the safety of your dogs is what comes first.

When you arrive at the class you will be asked to fill out a disclaimer and before class you will be sent out a form to fill in and return so your Coach has an idea of any issues your dog may have.

Your Coach

Alex is a fully qualified APDT Dog trainer and is also a qualified Canine Hydro therapist.

Dogs have always been her passion and her dogs Nyx (Border Collie) and Koda (Australian Shepherd) have taken her right through the dog world.

Nyx is trained and competed in Agility, Flyball and Barn Hunt

Nyx trained in Hoopers

Nyx is a qualified Cynophobia Dog

Koda is trained in Agility

Koda a show dog and competed at Crufts

Koda trains and competes in Barn Hunt and man-trailing

Koda is a qualified Therapy Dog and visits primary schools and care homes regularly

Nyx is now 13 yrs young and enjoying his retirement. Koda is 8yrs young, so we know all about the aging dog and how keeping them as sound as possible to keep them as pain free as possible will greatly reduce the chance of injuries we looked into starting this class with the knowledge we had and to pass knowledge onto other owners.
